Menahem and Rosa are Holocaust survivors who are struggling to make ends meet. Their friend, Maurice Greenspan, who has made his fortune cutting dubious deals in Canada, urges them to pack up shop and head for “the good life” overseas. Their son, meanwhile, is aware of his parents’ growing domestic woes, and of their mysterious, meddling friend who is also secretly making advances at his mother. His sister, on the other hand, is caught up in a relationship with Schultz, the neighbourhood thug (Yair Lapid MP in his debut film role). Winner of nine Ophir Awards, including Best Picture.
