Director Savi Gabizon’s debut film is an offbeat, Tel Aviv comedy at the centre of which is Asher Yeshurun (Moshe Ivgy) who, following an appearance on a television chat show, goes from perennial failure to massive success story virtually overnight. With his life now transformed, Asher finds himself surrounded by a group of people who are drawn to him in search of meaning within one’s own urban, Tel Avivian existence, and who end up crowning him their spiritual leader. The film took home six Ophir Awards including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Lead Actor. At the Jerusalem Film Festival, Shuroo also clinched a Wolgin Prize.
