Jacob (Yankul) Goldwasser is a film director and screenwriter. In 1982, he wrote and directed his first film, Big Shots (1982), then in 1987, he directed Abba Ganuv which soon became a cult classic, spawning two sequels. In 1991, he directed Over the Ocean which followed Holocaust survivors in the State of Israel’s early years; a film that was nominated for nine Ophir Awards. In 1994, Goldwasser directed Max and Morris, the film sequel to 1982’s Big Shots. Goldwasser was also a prolific TV director. In 2000, he directed the TV series, Reaching for Heaven, then in 2003, he helmed the critically-acclaimed television drama, Meorav Yerushalmi which won three Israeli Academy Awards. Later on, Goldwasser directed She’s Got It (2006), and Laces (2018).
