Levana Finkelstein is a theatre, film, and television actress. Finkelstein has performed on just about every repertoire theatre stage in Israel in the course of her career, whilst TV viewers will likely recognise her from her time on the military drama series, Tironoot (‘basic training’). Whilst in the army, Finkelstein was cast in Menahem Golan’s Margo Sheli (‘my Margo’, 1969) which gave her, her first major motion picture role. Highlights of her film credits include I Love you Rosa (Moshe Mizrahi, 1972), Salomonico (Alfred Steinhardt, 1972), Tzanani Family (Boaz Davidson, 1976), Midnight Entertainer (Boaz Davidson, 1977), Rockinghorse (Yaky Yosha, 1978), A Thousand and One Wives (Michal Bat Adam, 1989), Beyond the Walls II (Uri Barabash, 1992), Aya: Imagined Autobiography (Michal Bat-Adam, 1994), Dreams of Innocence (Dina Zvi-Riklis, 1994), Jewish Vendetta (Aleksandr Shabatayev, 1997), Aviva, my Love (Shemi Zarhin, 2006), and The Kind Words (Shemi Zarhin, 2015). Finkelstein’s role in Sharon Maymon and Erez Tadmor’s A Matter of Size (2009), won her an Ophir Award in the Best Supporting Actress category whilst for her part as the co-lead in Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon’s 2014 film, The Farewell Party, she clinched a Best Actress award both at the Valladolid International Film Festival, and the Haifa International Film Festival.
