Daniel Wachsmann is a screenwriter and director. Wachsmann trained at The London Film School and on completion of his studies, headed back to Israel where he subsequently made a number of short films. Transit (1980), his debut feature film was shown at a host of festivals around the world including the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). At the heart of the film is Erich Nussbaum, a Jew who had moved to Palestine from Germany at the start of WWII and is now anxious to return to his native land. Highlights of his other films include Silver Wind (1982) which won the Silver Leopard award at the Locarno International Film Festival, The Appointed (1989) which took home two Ophir awards, and Acre Dreams (2018).
