Through the voiceover narration of an unseen narrator, the story of Elvira – a prostitute who dreams of escaping her life and starting afresh in the US – is told. She daydreams about her clean slate at the bar in front of a group of drunken American tourists and carries on dreaming at the prostitute motel where she lives. She fantasises about a man who would whisk her out and away from this place and imagines her little girl, and how she would take her to the funfair. In between dream states and fantasies, Elvira takes a walk down the road which leads her to a predestined tragedy.
