Director Haim Bouzaglo’s political thriller follows the story of Israeli secret service (‘Shin Bet’) chief, Amos Snir (Amos Lavi), who is trying to thwart the country’s next major political assassination. It’s the early noughties and Israel’s historic 2005 unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and removal of all settlements (aka ‘the Disengagement’) is fast approaching, with the intended assassination victim being none other than then-Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon. Snir and his team have a little over three days before the annual Holocaust memorial day state ceremony at Jerusalem’s Yad Vashem Museum which the PM is slated to attend, and where Snir worries the killing may take place.
The agents start looking into the guest list with a fine-tooth comb. It comprises an extreme right fundamentalist, a Holocaust scholar who is having an affair with a Palestinian man, and a new immigrant Spanish doctor whose entire family was murdered in a terrorist attack. The team put together a profile of each and every guest in the hopes of flushing out, ahead of time, the would-be assassin.
