Avi Mograbi’s film records a series of sessions between himself (the director) and Ali Al-Azhari, his Arabic teacher. Mograbi shares his dreams with Al-Azhari, as well as biographical details of his Jewish-Lebanese family. Together, they contemplate possible scenarios of return, and convergence of both their histories. Woven into the film are love letters in French, read out in the voice of a Beirut woman writing to her Jewish lover who has immigrated to Tel Aviv.
