Director Michal Aviad, with the aid of Palestinian Assistant Director, Buthina Canaan Khoury and cinematographer, Yvonne Miklosh, sets out to examine the place women inhabit in the complex reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the occupation, on both sides of the fence. Three women creators whose day-to-day lives are shaped by the grim geo-political reality of the First Intifada. The Women Next Door was shown at various festivals around the world and took home the Berlin International Film Festival’s Independent Peace Film Prize. It was licenced by countless TV broadcasters worldwide yet to this day, remains unaired in Israel.
