The long-forgotten tale of migrant ship, The Salvador, that set sail from Bulgaria en route to Palestine in 1940, carrying 352 passengers on board before sinking by the Turkish coast. Of all the passengers on the ship, only 122 survived. Combining archive material and interviews with the survivors, documentary filmmaker Nissim Mossek brings viewers the story of The Salvador and of Bulgarian Jews’ ill-fated migration efforts, whilst lingering on the way the tragedy was received by the land’s Jewish communities of the time – with complete and utter indifference.
