Muli Segev is an editor, producer, and screenwriter. As a child, Segev played a boy also named Muli in the Israeli cult sitcom, Krovim Krovim (‘nearby relatives’). In 2000, he was a founding member of Israeli comedy channel, Beep, where he stayed on as Head Commissioning Editor until 2003. With Segev at the helm, the channel commissioned a range of successful programmes including hit quiz show, Crime and Punishment, hosted by Tal Friedman and Eyal Kitzis, and the adult animated comedy, M.K. 22.
In 2003, Segev ventured into television satire and co-created the hugely successful ratings juggernaut, A Wonderful Country, along with Asaf Shalmon and David Lifshitz, where he still serves as the programme’s Lead Content Editor. As of 2021, A Wonderful Country (‘eretz nehederet’) is an eight-time Israeli Television Academy award winner in the category of Best Satire Programme.
Segev also co-created TV dramedies, Mummy (‘Ima’lle’) with Tamar Maron and Ram Nehari (2005-2008) and Sorted (‘Mesudarim’), with Assaf Harel (2007-2009). In 2010, he co-directed the motion picture This is Sodom, with Adam Sanderson. This is Sodom was a major box office hit, selling well over half a million tickets, domestically. The film also won two Ophir Awards for Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design.
