Anat Even is an Israeli documentary filmmaker. Even’s films, which have been shown at a great many festivals worldwide, taking home multiple international awards, are predominantly political and centred around issues relating to Israeli society. In tandem with her filmmaking, Even is also a contributor to online film magazine, Closeup (‘Takriv’), which she co-edits with filmmaker, Ran Tal.
Her 2001 film, Detained, which she co-directed with Ada Ushpiz, won a Special Mention at the Jerusalem Festival, in addition to taking home awards at the Vesoul Asian Film Festival in France, and the Leipzig DOK Festival in Germany. In 2005, her film, Preliminaries (‘mikadmot’), clinched an award at Switzerland’s Visions du Réel Film Festival, whilst her 2009 film, Closure, earned a Special Mention at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Highlights of her other directorial credits include Positivos (1995), Avram’s Grocery Store (1996), Saturday in Jenin (2002), and Disappearances (aka ‘Yizkor Le’Manshiye’) (2017).
