The film presents the settling of the Negev according to the narrative of “making the desert bloom”. The desert, so it goes, used to be flowring and inhabited until the end of the byzantine period. Muslim conquest lay it to waste and the Bedouins are a primitive society. Israeli development will redeem the landscape. Its achievements are detailed one by one: planting fields in the Western Negev, establishing Gadna camps in the Arava Valley, developing Beer Sheva, laying roads, mining and the establishment of Eilat.
