A short documentary film summarizing the first year of Israel’s legation in Poland.
Only four months passed from Israel’s declaration of independence until the opening of the young country’s legation in Poland. This short film summarizes the activities of the Israeli legation in Warsaw in the year that has passed since its establishment. Among the documented events are: the presentation of Envoy Yisrael Barzilai’s letter of credence to the President of Poland, Bolesław Bierut; the visit of Israeli diplomats to monuments in the city; ceremonies of the Poland-Israel Friendship Society with the participation of writers Julian Tuwim, Leon Kruczkowski, and the Polish Deputy Minister of Culture; receptions at the legation in honor of Independence Day in the presence of the envoy’s wife, Chava Barzilai, and the pianist Frank Pelleg. Additionally, the film documents the ongoing work of the Israeli diplomats Pinchas Dagan, Shlomo Gel, Yitzhak Shamir, Israel Carmel, Baruch Niv, and Yaakov Patrzyele, all members of the legation.
