An excerpt from A Portrait of an Artist: Moshe Berenstein, a documentary film produced by the Israeli Film Service.
The yearning for the lost world of Europe’s Jewry haunts Moshe Berenstein: “I live with a burden of the past. I live with some internal pain, and I include it in my art,” says the Poland born painter, who lost his family in the Holocaust. In his Tel Aviv studio, the artist paints the world of the Jewish shtetl, a world that is no more.
(Director and writer: Nina Bachar; cameraman: Amnon Salomon; editor: Shoshi Gil; producers: Yigal Ephrati and Samuel Altman)
