Widow of United States President and United States delegation to the United Nations member Eleanor Roosevelt arrives at Mandelbaum Gate in Jerusalem. Roosevelt is received by US Ambassador Monnett Bain Davis, and by presidential and Foreign Ministry representatives. Roosevelt visits the Negev where she meets with head of the Shuval Bedouin tribe Sheikh Suleiman el Huziel. Roosevelt visits an immigrant transit camp where she speaks with residents. Roosevelt visits the childrens village Hadassim and is greeted by WIZO President Rivka Ziv. Roosevelt tours the institution, visits an exhibition of handicrafts by the students and receives explanations about educational methods.
