Director Ido Harr embarks on a journey in search of his granddad who had walked out on Haar’s mother before she was born. He locates the grandfather in Russia’s Novosibirsk and arranges a meeting between father and daughter – his grandfather and mother – for the first time in their lives. An unsettling journey between Israel and Siberia, and between present and past during which all the old emotions – the hopes, expectations, anger, and residual pain – come flooding back to the surface. Melting Siberia earned a Special Mention at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
