Director Ron Ninio’s film, whose script was penned by playwright Hillel Mittelpunkt, focuses on a group of young people working towards realising their biggest dream: becoming professional stage actors. The start of the film finds our protagonists in their third year of acting school, right in the middle of a particularly troubled production. Noam (Rami Heuberger), their no-nonsense acting teacher, is prepping the aspiring thespians for their adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Post graduation, the group are in for a rude awakening, as they discover that an actor’s life is not a simple one. Yoav, whose father is an acclaimed actor, refuses to become a nepo baby just to get ahead; Gabby, meanwhile, tries set up a community theatre down south; whereas Noam is about to hit the big league and land a directing gig with Habima National Theatre – only to be met with staunch opposition by veteran actor, Spiegel. Alongside their professional hopes and dreams, the gang must also grapple with the ebbs and tides of their personal lives, including love, heartbreak, and many a disappointment.
Shmuel Segal’s performance in the film landed him an Ophir Award for Best Supporting Actor.
