Eytan Fox’s film adaptation of Irit Linur’s novel of the same title is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of 1991 Tel Aviv during the First Gulf War. Talila (Dalit Kahan), a young Tel Avivian who works at an ad agency definitely has been feeling like she is winning at life. She meets Noah (Boaz Gur-Lavi) and falls in love with him; however, his ex, Dana (Avital Dicker) suddenly decides to show up again… along with her ex, Offer (Yair Lapid). Meanwhile, the war in the region brings all the existing pressures and conflicts of these intertwined relationships to a head. All this is set against the backdrop of late 20th century urban Tel Aviv life, and a soundtrack made up of Israeli tunes from the 1960s and ‘70s, performed by pop groups The High Windows, The Three’ngers, and The Good, The Bad and The Girl. Rounding off the soundtrack is Israeli pop diva, Rita, performing the film’s title track, Song of the Siren (Never Fear). Orly Silbersatz won a Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of Talila’s sister.
