Artist and filmmaker, Jacques Katmor’s film is by all accounts an extraordinary piece in the local landscape; one that that was deeply influenced by the French New Wave movement which, in the 1960s was having its golden age. Katmor set out to explore modern life’s impact on womankind through a simple story about a man in his ‘40s; an ad executive who treats the female body as if it were a commodity. The woman, in her twenties is young, curious, and after new experiences. Their encounter further exacerbates the older man’s pre-existing sense of failure and purposelessness. The pair spend a day together in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem: She takes him to cafes and sex parties, whilst he brings her to sculptors’ workshops where he plans for these artists to create a plaster cast in her image, in an effort to freeze and cement the very notion of her for posterity.
