Chasing a Star (also known as Who Kidnapped Moshe Ivgy?) was an Impro Film and Television Acting School production, directed by Avi Malka who also ran the school. Both current students and alumni took part in the making of the film, including playing some of the major roles.
The story comprises three interwoven plotlines: Adam, an unemployed actor who is now six years out of acting school, seizes an opportunity when A-list Israeli actor Moshe Ivgy (playing himself) steps into the limousine he drives for a living, high as a kite. Shir, a local council officer panics when she learns that legendary football coach Shlomo Scharf (also playing himself) will be in attendance at the local council officers’ football team’s upcoming match. Finally, the third storyline follows a felon who recently got out of prison but fails to keep himself on the straight and narrow and ends up drawn back into a life of crime.
