A film based on Gila Almagor’s autobiographical book, a sequel to “Summer of Aviya”. The story takes place in Israel 1950, in a youth village for orphans who survived the Holocaust, and other Israeli children with problems. During the day they are like all teenagers, but at night the painful memories of the horrors of the Holocaust return. When life becomes unbearable, the teenagers find refuge under the beautiful domim tree, the only place, where they feel safe and can find some solitude. Several stories are woven into a powerful story of this very special group of young people.
The film was shown at international festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival. He won three Israeli Film Academy awards, the best film award at the Jerusalem Film Festival and another award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in the USA.
