Ohad Knoller is a stage and screen actor. Knoller, a graduate of the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio, grew up in Tel Aviv and studied in the city’s famous Primary School of the Arts as boy before moving on to the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts where he spent his teenage years. Knoller’s onscreen career already started in his childhood when he joined the ensemble cast of TV programme, Catching a Buzz (‘tofsim rosh’.) At the age of 18, he landed one of the lead roles in Eli Cohen’s Under the Domim Tree, the 1994 sequel to his critically acclaimed film, Aviya’s Summer (1988).
Knoller got his big break in 2003 when director Eytan Fox cast him as one of the two leads in his trailblazing same-sex military drama, Yossi and Jagger. Knoller’s performance earned him a Best Actor award at that year’s Tribeca Festival. In 2007, he starred in Joseph Cedar’s Beaufort that earned an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Feature Film.
Highlights of his other film credits include The Bubble (Eytan Fox, 2006), Munich (Steven Spielberg, 2005), We are not Alone (Lior Har-Lev, 2011), Yossi (Eytan Fox, 2012), A Tale of Love and Darkness (Natalie Portman, 2015), Outdoors (Asaf Saban, 2017), and Golda (Guy Nattiv, 2023).
Highlights of his TV series credits include Wings, Love Hurts, Srugim, By the Wedding (‘ad hachatuna’), Temporarily Dead, False Flag (‘kfulim’), and The Man who Wanted to Know Everything.
Highlights of his stage credits include War for the Home (2002), We are the Cavalry (2003), and The Miser (2003) – all with Jerusalem’s Khan Theatre. Knoller’s notable performances in Habima National Theatre included Tape (2006), and Period of Adjustment (2006). In 2011, he appeared in a Cameri and Haifa Theatre co-production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, All my Sons.
Between 2012-2016, Knoller headed the Israeli Actors’ Guild, aka ‘Shaham’. In 2019, he was named as Givatayim Theatre’s new creative director.
