Late director Moshé Mizrahi’s final film is a loose adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s play, Uncle Vanya. The plot is set in Israel, in the aftermath of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination. An ageing arts professor arrives at his old family farm in the Galilee, accompanied by his considerably younger partner. The farm is still home to his brother-in-law who is the professor’s first, late wife’s brother, his senile though spritely mother, and son and daughter. When word of the professor’s plans to sell the farm gets out, long dormant family demons are roused awake, revealing all the anger, frustration, missed opportunities, and unfulfilled dreams over the years.
