Love Life is the film adaption of a novel by Zeruya Shalev. To those on the outside looking in, Yaara seems to have it all: a loving husband, a promising future in academia, and a supportive family. One day, Aryeh, an old friend of her parents who is very much her elder, comes into her life and Yaara soon finds herself obsessively drawn to his dark, erotic world. Hungry for thrills, a different life, and an unorthodox relationship, she gets herself caught up in a dynamic that treads the fine line between a love affair and a sub/dom relationship. All that is old and familiar in Yaara’s life is upended as a result of this relationship which ultimately forces her to confront some long-buried, deeply-repressed family secrets.
