The funeral for soldiers killed in the 1948 War from Gush Etzion and the area. A truck convoy with coffins at the entrance to Jerusalem. Trucks, buses and military jeeps drive on King George Street and Jaffa Road as a crowd of spectators watches. Men carry caskets up Mount Herzl and lay them in burial plots. A sign in Hebrew reads: Your glory, O Israel, lies slain on your heights, how have the mighty fallen, a verse from Davids lamentation in the Book of Samuel. Armed soldiers stand at attention by a large crowd. Soldiers, bereaved families and grievers mourn. Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Herzog (possibly by Commander in Chief Yigal Yadin) speaks to the large crowd in a microphone. Distinguished men and rabbis, among them Rabbi Uziel and Rabbi Goren, stand over a grave and raise their hands. The crowd stands at attention on the background of the Jerusalem hills.
