Michel Boganim’s documentary tells the story of the city of Odessa’s decimated Jewish community. Through a journey from the Ukrainian metropolis to New York City’s ‘Little Odessa’ and finally, the Israeli city of Ashdod, the film chronicles several of its characters’ move away from Odessa, their hopes and illusions. In the process, it examines ever-pertinent issues of immigration, roots, individual and collective identity.
