Raquel Chalfi is an Israeli poet and filmmaker. After completing her military service, Chalfi, a native Tel Avivian joined Israeli radio station, Kol Israel where she worked as Commissioning Editor. She also directed a number of TV films for Israeli public broadcaster, Channel 1 and worked as a journalist. Over the years, Chalfi has won scores of awards for her body of work including the 1983 Prime Minister’s Prize for Hebrew Writers, the 2006 ACUM Award, and the 2006 Bialik Prize for Literature for her book, Solar Plexus: Poems 1975-1999 –a collection of poems from her various books. Chalfi is the niece of renowned poet, Abraham Chalfi. Highlights of her film credits include Matchmakers (1970), Possibilities, or Bluebeard and Me (1983), and Her Dream (1987).
