Ran Carmeli is a film, television, and TV ad director, and film lecturer. A graduate of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, Carmeli has directed a slew of ads for several of Israel’s most prominent brands and franchises, including Bank Hapoalim, Bezeq (phone provider), the Israeli National Lottery (aka ‘Mifal HaPais’), Coca Cola, Cellcom (mobile phone company), and Strauss (dairy company).
In 1997, Carmeli directed the documentary My Mom’s First Olympics, which was shown at a range of festivals around the world, including the Taiwan International Film Festival and DOK Leipzig. The film also clinched an Israeli Ophir Prize for Best Documentary, and the top honours at the Haifa International Film Festival. In 2002, Carmeli teamed up with author, screenwriter, journalist, and radio DJ, Irit Linur, and the pair co-directed the award-winning TV series, The Brown Girls, which won Best TV Drama at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
