Ayelet Menahemi is a film and television director. In 1988 she directed the 45min documentary short, Crows, whose commercial release was a huge success, sharing a double bill with director, Nirit Yaron’s Big Girl. Crows is considered a trailblazing film, both in terms of subject matter, i.e. veering away from political and military themes and turning the focus instead onto Tel Aviv’s fringe characters of the 1980s, and with its stylised art and cinematography, the latter of which was helmed by cinematographer, Amnon Zlayet. The film took home first prize at the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival. Highlights of Menahemi’s other films include Abba Ganuv III 1991), Tel Aviv Stories (1992), Doing Time, Doing Vipassana (1997) which went on to win multiple awards at festivals worldwide, and Noodle (2007). In 2017, Menahemi directed television series, Landing on their Feet.
