Mira Recanati is a director and artist. Recanati is part of the generation of Israeli women directors who were starting to make films in the late 1970s and into the early 1980s, in a bid to create an alternative to the dominant male gaze in Israeli cinema. This groups of women creators also included Michal Bat Adam, Idit Shehori, and Tzipi Tropé. Highlights of Recanati’s film credits include Travelling (1976, a short, narrative fiction film), One 269 Street (1976, documentary short), and A Thousand Little Kisses (1982), which was showcased in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section.
