Leon Prudovsky is a screenwriter and director. A graduate of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television Studies, Prudovski was born in the Soviet Union and moved to Israel at the age of 13. His 2005 graduation project, Dark Night, was shortlisted for an Academy Award in the Student Film category and went on to win multiple awards at various film festivals both in Israel and around the world, including Jerusalem, Venice, Munich, Palm Springs, and Beijing.
In 2006, Prudovsky teamed up with Erez Kav-El to co-direct the film, Like a Fish Out of Water (55min) that was shown at multiple festivals round the world and took home several awards, including one at the Girona Film Festival. In 2009, he directed the film Five Hours from Paris that made the official selection for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and won Best Film at the Haifa and Napoli film festivals.
In 2012, Prudovsky directed the short, Welcome and Our Condolences (‘bruchim habayim ve… mishtatfim betzaarchem’) (30min), that was shown at many festivals, both locally and internationally. The film won a Special Mention at the Haifa International Film Festival, and the Youth Jury Award at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. In 2016, he headed to Russia to direct the series, Family Album. Then in 2019, he and Eli Ben-David co-directed the Israeli TV programme, The Attaché.
