Michael (Mickey) Behagen is a screenwriter, musician, TV and film director. A graduate of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television Studies, Behagen’s student short, Shapira’s Song (1978), won him an award for Best Director in a local short film competition. Behagen is the creator of TV cult thriller, Late Night Stories, which aired on Israeli public broadcaster, Channel 1, from 1987 – 1991. In 1999, he directed all six episodes of detective drama, Mandel and Gorenstein Detectives. On the music front, Behagen directed numerous music videos for a host of Israeli musicians, including Dafna Armoni, Gabi Shoshan, Dori Ben Ze’ev, and many others. Highlights of his film credits include The Plumber (1986), Forever Young (1996), and The Letter (2009) – an autobiographical film which chronicles Behagen’s son’s transition into a religious lifestyle and the impact it had on relationships and intra-family dynamics.
