This film shows the contribution of South Africans to the war effort of World War II. The film is structured as a narrative film in which one of the soldiers in the military camp explains to another what war is and what is their vocation as soldiers. As part of this explanation, the impressive mobilization of South Africans for the war is presented – they fought on the fronts in North Africa – on the ground and in the air, helped in the production of weapons, built bridges, paved roads, and built the Haifa–Beirut–Tripoli Railway. All this in order to support the effort of the Allies against the Axis countries.
