Operation Jebusite is launched with the aim of creating territorial continuity between Jewish quarters in Jerusalem. The Harel Brigade joins the Haganah forces in the battle for the city and Yitzhak Sadeh commands the fighting, which will last about two weeks. The battles over San Simon, Shuafat Beit Iksa, Nebi Samwil, and Sheikh Jarrah encounter fierce Arab fighting. Uri Ben-Ari describes the battle in Nabi Samuel.
