A documentary produced by the Israeli Film Service in cooperation with the Ministry of Absorption.
It is not easy to be a new immigrant in Israel. However, claim Israelis from disadvantaged backgrounds, it is even harder to be a local. While Jewish immigrants from the Soviet Union are provided with affordable housing and tax free cars and home appliances, many Israelis still suffer from poverty and housing shortage. Against the background of the Israeli Black Panthers’ demonstrations, this film tries to explain why mass immigration to Israel not only does not come at the expense of the local population but will also benefit it in the long run.
