A film by the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive, produced by the Jewish National Fund of America and intended for American Jewish audiences, consisting of four scenes shot in 1931 in Eretz YisraelPalestine which offer a glimpse of daily lives of the Jewish community in Mandatory Palestine The first episode features a female singer performing the Shavout song Our Baskets Are On Our Shoulders, as children dance on stage with her in a ceremony marking the celebration of the first fruits of the Shavout holiday The second chapter presents an event of the Jewish National Fund held on the occasion of planting the JNFs millionth tree, in which Menachem Ussishkin, chairman of the JNF, addresses the audience, followed by tree planting The third chapter presents an educational institution where girls and boys perform exercises in the school plaza and dance the Hora dance In the fourth episode, a crowd is standing as the Hatikvah is being performed at a public event in an unknown location The film concludes in a speech in English by Emanuel Neumann, Chairman of the Jewish National Fund of America, addressing members of his community regarding the renewal of Jewish life in Palestine and the JNFs commitment to supporting the Zionist enterprise through land acquisition
