A short film produced by the Information Office (Israeli Film Service) and the Ministry of Finance about the recession.
After years of growth, the Israeli economy reaches an unprecedented low. Israel suffers from a trade deficit of half a billion dollars as well as a nearly 12% unemployment rate. This film addresses employers, laborers, and the unemployed and shows how all can be a part of the problem – or the solution. The film advises the jobless to change their profession and offers factories various ways to increase their productivity, including lowering employees’ wages: “when workers help decrease production costs, the factory can expand its export. In that case, the main beneficiaries are the workers themselves.” Speakers in the film include workers and managers in the following companies: Beged Or, Deko, Bellis, Mobilia, S. Friedmann, and ZIM.
