The first episode of the “Art in Israel” series, produced by the Israel Film Service. The film explores how Israel and its’ holy sites are seen through the artworks of Jewish artists who lived in Israel before its independence, such as Simcha Yanover, Moshe Mizrahi Shah, and Shmuel Shulman. This chapter introduces the history of Jewish art in Israel in the years 1860-1906, the period preceding the founding of “Bezalel”.
