A film produced by the Israeli Film Service. Avantgarde art group “New Horizons” split from the Israeli mainstream in 1948. Its members sought inspiration in contemporary international art and rebelled against the establishmentarian spirit of the Israeli art world. During the 1950s, the group was winning greater acceptance within the Israeli art sphere. At that point, several of its members began swaying towards abstract art. The move created a rift within the group that would consequently lead to its breakup. The film features rare interviews with members of the group, as well as archive footage presents the spirit of its members as being distinct from that of the society at large.
