The grand opening of the new Hebrew University campus at Givat Ram has finally occurred.
After the independence war in 1948, the university campus had to leave its previous location on Mount Scopus. For a few years, politicians and donors searched for a new location to rebuild the campus, but couldn’t find a suitable land to build a central campus. Eventually, a suitable land was found on the outskirts of Jerusalem. This promotional video showcases the opening ceremony, the new buildings, and the campus’ innovations such as student dorms and a modern cafeteria. The challenges and hardships that the university contributors went through to keep the first Hebrew-speaking academic institution active and influential are also displayed.
