A train departs from Tel Aviv South (Beit Hadar) train station and arrives at the Jerusalem train station. The Knesset Finance Committee is currently debating termination of the railway line, supported by Transport Minister Ezer Weizman. The line isnt profitable but serves a fair number of passengers, offers an alternative to traffic, and serves as a tourist attraction. Gahal ministers are to resign from the government in early August 1970, and the new Minister of Transport, Shimon Peres, allows the operation to continue.
