Finance Minister Levi Eshkol submits the state budget to the Knesset. In his speech, Eshkol highlights the priorities that dictated the budget distribution: increasing the expenditure on defense; increasing the expenditure of education and lengthening the school days; extra beds in hospitals; completion of the first phase of development of the Israel National Water Carrier; developing the phosphate plant in Oron and the copper mine in Timna, and more. The minister states that he is expecting the signing of trade agreements with the European Economic Community in the upcoming year.
