Former British Prime Minister Alec Douglas Home lands at Lod Airport for a visit to Israel as a guest of the government. Days earlier, the German writer Günter Grass landed at the airport and was greeted by West German Ambassador to Israel Rolf Friedemann Pauls. Finally, French philosophers Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir arrive in Israel. Students greet them upon their landing, and the Israeli poet Avraham Shlonsky receives them.
