In an event featuring President of Israel Zalman Shazar, Minister of Education and Culture Zalman Aran, authors and artists, Beit Sholem Aleichem, perpetuating the Yiddish authors heritage, is inaugurated in Tel Aviv. Invited guests, among which are the deceased authors relatives, listen to the speakers. Sholem Aleichems son-in-law, author Isaac Dov Berkowitz, offers the Tel Aviv Municipality to name the nearby street after Sholem Aleichems fictional character Tevye – an offer which was declined.
