Israelis Kidnapped to Damascus Return to Israel

At Lod Airport, Prime Minister Golda Meir, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abba Eban, and a large crowd welcome Salah Mualem and Shlomo Samuelov, two Israelis that were kidnapped to Damascus. The two, that were kidnapped in the TWA Flight 840 hijacking, speak to their press upon their return to Israel. The following day, the second stage of the prisoner exchange is carried out. Israel returns 13 POWs to Syria. At the border crossing between Israel and Egypt in El Qantara, Israel returns 58 POWs to Egypt, including the pilot Nabil Said. The released prisoners cross the Suez Canal on boats. In exchange, the pilots Giora Romm and Nissim Ashkenazi return to Israel on stretchers.
