American astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins are launched on the Saturn V rocket to the historic Apollo 11 mission. After a 3-day journey through space and a multistage disassembly of the rocket, the command and service module Columbia detaches, flips, and docks with the lunar module Eagle. Armstong and Aldrin move to the Eagle that lands on the moon, while Collins remains in Columbia to circle the celestial object. Armstrong and Aldrin make mankinds first steps on the moon, broadcasted live from a camera they placed. The astronauts collect soil samples and deploy experimental instruments. On completing their assignments, the astronauts depart on the Eagle, reconnect with Collins in Columbia and return to Earth.
