At the Presidents House in Jerusalem, President of Israel Zalman Shazar and senior IDF commanders host 110 officers and soldiers that excelled in their service for the 22nd Independence Day of Israel. Events celebrating the national holiday are held across the country:
In a show in front of the coast of Haifa, female and male soldiers parachute from an Israeli Air Force Nord plane, land at sea and are carried to the beach on speedboats.
At Jaffa street in Jerusalem, Gadna students march toward the Old City in front of a spectators crowd. Above, Air Force jets fly in the traditional aerobatic display. On the beach of Tel Aviv, citizens observe a festive cruise of the Israeli Navi ships.
Moments from the IDF routine in the past year are depicted: Laying barbed wire fences at the border; outposts on the bank of the Suez Canal; observations and arrest in the Jordan Rift Valley; Armored Corps, Half-Tracks and Helicopters training; Air Force flights; rappelling drills for female and male soldiers and knife fighting exercises; and daily life in a Nahal settlement in southern Israel.
In an Armored Corps Park event at Kikar Hamedina in Tel Aviv, children climb on tanks and play with different weapons displayed to the public. Finally, soldiers are seen bid farewell to their families, hike in a nighttime journey and pledge allegiance to the IDF in a ceremony with fire inscriptions at the Western Wall.
