Dignitaries light ceremonial torches at Mount Herzl. Fireworks explode in the sky. Wine experts taste wines in a wine contest. Citizens drink wine at food stands. Children and adults dance near entertainment stages and listen to musical performances. People arrive on buses to the street parades. Spectators watch children and men and women march, play instruments and dance in parades in Haifa and Tel Aviv. Citizens and distinguished guests wait for the military parade in the streets of Tel Aviv. President Yitzhak Ben Zvi and wife Rachel Yanait Ben Zvi arrive by car at the ceremony and take their place on stage alongside Prime Minister David Ben Gurion. Fighter jets and helicopters fly over. Tanks, cannons and other military vehicles drive by. IDF soldiers from various corps march before the audience.
