An excerpt from Joint Project – Ten Years of Assistance, a film by the Israel Central Office of Information (Israeli Film Service) about the United States Operations Mission to Israel (USOM).
At a house in Tel Aviv’s Tzahala quarter lives Bernard K. Schuman, a USOM dairy sanitation advisor. Schuman, also known as “Mr. Milk”, is in charge of consulting Israeli milk producers about ways to improve their products. “In this effort to produce quantities, many concepts in quality were neglected,” explains Schuman about the dairy industry in Israel’s early days. This video documents milk bottling in an Israeli factory as well as a training center for dairy technologists and technicians, which was established in Beit Dagan by USOM, UNICEF, and the Israeli government.
